The topics for this Friday, 2/5/16: Minimal Viable Product with Scott Thielman and How to Read a Financial Statement with Tim Chou and Zach Parsons. Local entrepreneurs and law and business students from the ELC will provide special hands-on training, guidance, and answer questions on topics as they relate to your innovations.
Scott Thielman leads electronics technology and is charged with bringing products to life through integrated electronics and embedded software. Career highlights include leading a R&D team dedicated to improving the performance of a dental hand piece, designing a low flow-rate chiller system for a body contouring ultrasound device, and integrating a ZigBee chipset in a wireless networked product.

2016 Summer Research Opportunity at Northeastern University in Boston – up to $5000 stipend!

Locations: Santa Clara, CA
Contribute in the area of SI-related implementation methodologies at part of NVIDIA’s centralized physical design engineering group. Design automation is focused on design quality assurance and simplification of design decisions in complex scenarios.
Responsibilities:
  • Creation and maintenance of electronic form of SI design rule library. The library constraint system designs by enabling checkers for different interfaces (PCIE, GDDR, DP, USB, etc.). Support board and package designers to ensure correct design constraints are used in the development process.
  • Structure SI procedures via script automation to enhance group productivities.
  • Develop advance constraint checkers to systematically ensure critical design structures are within design envelope. The ability to work with CAD teams and design guide owners is critical.
Minimum Requirements:
  • BSEE, BSCE, or equivalent international education or equivalent experience.
  • One year of experience in SI-related professional experience. Previous design experience in field of graphics, desktop, or server systems is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of Allegro constraint manager.
  • Working experience with transient simulator like hspice and ADS.
  • Scripting skills.

Electrical engineering design | Development of atmospheric instruments
Field deployment and operation of EOL atmospheric instruments, primarily the dropsonde systems.

EOL serves the advanced observational needs of the atmospheric science community by providing a flexible, state‐of‐the‐art backbone measurement capability applicable to a wide range of experimental needs ‐ emphasizing advanced sensor capabilities, sensor integration, system mobility, and the ability to deploy to remote or difficult locations throughout the world. A wide range of electrical engineering technologies is used in these instruments, including RF/analog, digital, embedded and communications systems. The Dropsonde system flies on NSF/NCAR’s aircraft, the NASA Global Hawk UAS, and many other aircraft worldwide, all having a significant impact in helping atmospheric scientists better understand severe weather like typhoons, hurricanes, and severe thunderstorms. This job provides the opportunity to be involved with all aspects of the instrument that has direct societal impacts.

Education and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and at least one year of engineering experience; OR
  • an equivalent combination of education and experience (including internships and labs).

Job Activities include:
